On Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6: 30 p.m., Dr. Robin Valeri will present “From Hate to Harm” at the Cuba Library, 39 E. Main St, Cuba NY. This talk will examine why people hate, tactics used to spread hate, and the resulting harm caused by hate.
Robin Maria Valeri, Professor of Psychology, St. Bonaventure University, was graduated with a B.A., cum laude, in psychology from Cornell University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology from Syracuse University. Valeri’s current research focuses on hate, hate groups and terrorist organizations, including their use of the internet and social media as a recruitment, communication, and propaganda tool. Valeri is co-editor of the forthcoming books “Cyber Hate: Examining White Supremacy in Cyberspace” and “Serial Crime: A Criminological and Psychological Perspective” as well as “Terrorism in America” and “Hate Crimes: Victims, Motivations and Typologies,” published in 2018. Valeri also co-authored “Skinhead History, Identity and Culture” published in 2017.
