Celebrate Pride Month with us as we watch Stonewall Uprising on Wednesday, June 5 at 6 p.m. at the Cuba Library. This documentary tells the story of a police raid launched on the Stonewall Inn, a Mafia-run gay bar in Greenwich Village in the early ’60s — singled out for its ties to the gay community, not for its ties to the criminal underground. In a period of targeted oppression by conservative society, the gays and lesbians did something unprecedented in response to the raid, by fighting back. There is no cost for the program. Refreshments will be served.
This program is Funded by the Southern Tier Library Foundation Outreach Mini-Grant for PRISM.
