Join us on Thursdays, July 29, August 5 & 12 for a class in Abstract Collaging taught by Rise Peacock. Inspired by the works of Nannette Carter and Wangechi Mutu this art class will explore the possibilities of abstract collage making. Students who take this course will learn the foundational skills of composition, balance, layout, and configuration. We will also learn and discuss color relationships and the benefits of texture, line, shape, and layering. The materials used in this course will be colored paper and glue. Folks are encouraged to bring in their own experimental materials but please know that each participant will be provided with an art kit for the class. Each class will start with a 10 – 15 minute presentation to introduce vocabulary, techniques, and different artists. The rest of the course time will be utilized for making projects. This class is for teens & adults ages 16 & up. Space is limited and registration is required. Please contact Cuba Library to sign up.
