SUMMARY:Strawberry Pincushions
DESCRIPTION:In the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois/Six Nations) culture\, the straw
 berry is considered a gift from the Creator. They give thanks to the straw
 berry as it is a symbol of health\, blatant thanksgiving\, with deep roots
  in their Creation story. In celebration of the strawberry\, participants 
 will be sewing a beautiful beaded velvet pin cushion using glass seed bead
 s as embellishment. Come to the Cuba Library on Saturday\, April 25 from 1
 0 am - 1pm and learn beading techniques with native artist Penny Minner to
  add seeds\, edging around the leaves\, and a beaded hanger to a strawberr
 y pincushion. All materials provided. If you need close up glasses please 
 bring them.\n\nThis class is free and open to adult patrons\, but space is
  limited\, and registration is required. Please contact Cuba Library at (5

 nosaunee artist\, making traditional arts such as beadwork\, moccasins\, a
 nd regalia accessories\, as well as providing displays\, demos and present
 ations on Haudenosaunee style artwork & stories.\n\nThis project is made p
 ossible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program\, a regra
 nt program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of t
 he Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administe
 red by the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
