Suminagashi marbling is the oldest known form of marbling, originating in Japan in the 10th to 12th centuries. Patrons are invited to sign up for this class in which ink is floated on water and then transferred to paper. This technique yields beautiful and surprising patterns which can be printed onto paper, cards, envelopes and bookmarks. The workshop will take place on Wednesday, October 23. Stop in anytime between 6:30-7:30 pm to try this process, which takes about 10 minutes per person. Patrons of all ages are invited to sign up, but children under 9 should be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be provided. Though this is a drop in workshop, registration is required so that the instructor can bring adequate supplies. Please contact Cuba Library at (585)968-1668 or email cuba@stls.org to sign up.
