Kinusaiga Fabric Art

Kinusaiga is a modern Japanese art form created by Setsu Maeno in the 1980’s, often called “fabric painting,” that creates intricate pictures by tucking fabric scraps into grooves cut into a base. Adults ages 19 & up are invited to join us on Tuesday, June 2 at 6 pm at Cuba Library as we try out this unique art form that has a look similar to stained glass. We will be using polystyrene board and a variety of fabric scraps to create our pictures. This art form does require some attention to detail and we will be using Exacto knives for part of the project. We will have three picture options available for participants to choose from, or you can bring your own simple image to work with. We do not advise using anything particularly small or intricate for your first attempt at this art form if you do choose to bring your own picture. This class is free and all materials will be provided. Space is limited and registration is required. Please contact Cuba Library at (585) 968-1668, email cuba@stls.org, or message us on Facebook to sign up.
