    Galaxy Tiles

    Come on Wednesday, August 7 at 6:30 pm at the Cuba Library and make your own custom galaxy inspired tile coaster using regular and metallic alcohol inks and sharpies! These versatile inks are fast-drying, and mixing colors creates a marbled effect. This program is open ages 13 & up. There is no cost for the program, but registration is required, so please contact the library to sign up. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Cuba Library, Inc.

    Flower Pounding

    Join us Thursday, August 8 from 6:30 – 9 pm for a fun and interesting class. Using freshly picked flowers, you will create designs by pounding them into fabric to create a beautiful, natural art-work. We will make large flower-pounded canvas bags that you can take home. There is a $5 fee for this class, which is open to adults only. Registration required, so please contact the Cuba Library to sign up. The program is funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program with support from Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Tri-County Arts Council.

    Painted Bookends

    Join us Wednesday, July 24 at 6:30 pm at the Cuba Library and make your own custom set of bookends to keep your books organized, or just use them as a decoration! You can do a galaxy style design to go with the summer reading theme, or come up with your own unique idea. This program is open to  all ages, however, those under 13 should be accompanied by an adult. There is no cost for the program, but registration is required, so please contact the library to sign up.

    Book Binding

    Local artisan Christine Zeitler will guide participants through the process of creating their own blank books on Saturdays, July 13, 20, & 27 at 1 pm at the Cuba Library. This class will run for three sessions: the first will be to begin creating the signatures (groups of book pages) and possibly sewing them together, and if there is time, gluing the signatures to their cloth binding. The second session will be creating the book cover. The third week will be assembling the dry signatures and covers into a cohesive book and putting in the front and back decorative papers.     Anyone 18 and older is invited to sign up for this 6 week course with Rise Peacock. This experimental workshop is for individuals seeking to expand their drawing skills for leisure or wanting to apply to accredited art or technical schools!
