Story Hours

The Cuba Library offers weekly story hours during the weeks and months public school is in session. Class sizes are limited and registration is required (585) 968-1668. These programs are funded in part by the New York State Division for Youth and by Friends of the Library.

Humpty Dumpty Story Hour for three- and four-year olds meets on Tuesdays from 10 to 11:00 a.m. in the children's room. Children learn nursery rhymes and finger plays and then there is ample time for books and storytelling. Before leaving each day they make a craft related to the story of the day. Give your child the opportunity to hear the best in children's literature.

After School Story Hour for students in grades K-3 meets on Tuesday afternoons from 3:00 to 4:00 throughout the school year. We begin with a snack and then listen to stories, introducing the students to well known authors and the best in children's literature. There is time for a craft or game at the end of each session. The wall size bulletin board in the children's section of the library is usually designed by this group.

Lap Sit Story Hour is designed for toddlers ages two to three with their parent or caregiver. The class meets on Thursday mornings from 10:00 to10:45. The little ones are introduced to Mother Goose rhymes and simple stories for little ones. Selecting songs from the song bag is always a highlight of the morning. At the end of each story time parents help their little ones do age appropriate craft projects related to the day's stories. This is a happy first group learning experience.
