Preschool University story time is for children who are 3 or 4 years old at the start of the school year. A parent or caregiver must attend with the child. Besides reading 3 – 4 books each week, there will be songs, movement, games, crafts, and playtime. This time helps acclimate your child to a classroom-like setting in a fun, flexible way. The group will have some STEAM activities incorporated throughout the year. Space is very limited and registration is required.

The group will have some STEAM activities incorporated throughout the year. Space is very limited and registration is required.

After-School Explorers for children in K-3 grades will meet weekly on Thursdays from 3-4 pm. This group will read together, do crafts, science experiments, and more. Space is very limited and registration is required.
Needle Felted Critters 7:00 pm
Needle Felted Critters

Needle felting is the art of using wool and other fibers along with a barbed needle, and patience, to create pieces of art. Join us Thursday, March 5 at 7 pm at the Cuba Library for a class with Christine Zeitler. During this program, students will learn the mechanics of the process, all safety procedures needed, as well as different techniques to achieve different effects simply with wool, a needle, and patience. Each student will have a completed piece, as well as the tools to continue exploring this craft on their own. The cost for the program is $5, and anyone ages 13 & up is welcome to attend. Registration is required, and space in the class is limited, so please contact the library to sign up. This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by Tri-County Arts Council.

The Page Turners Book Discussion Group meets for about an hour at 1:30 p.m. on the second or third Wednesday of each month, September through June. The group reads literary fiction, classics and popular nonfiction. The discussions are led by a trained leader and are lively and fun! Let the Library staff know if you would like to participate and they will order the selected book for you.

Join us for a painting class with artist Patience Wnek on Wednesday, March 11 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm at the Cuba Library. Students will be instructed in the use and application of One Stroke painting techniques. Each student will create their own beautiful work of art and be able to apply what they have learned to a variety of different surfaces. All skill levels welcome, you do not need to have taken a previous class in one stroke painting. The library will provide tinware. This program is for adults only. There is a $5 fee for the class, and registration is required. Space is limited, so please contact the library to sign up.   This program is sponsored by Friends of the Cuba Library, Inc.

All are invited to the Palmer Opera House on Thursday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. to learn about the 2020 U.S. Census. Local representatives from the Census will be on hand to discuss the first digitally-driven census, the importance of counting every single person, and the safety of your personal information. Learn how your Allegany County libraries can assist with this process as well. Questions welcome! This event is free and open to all.
