Making Movies

Patrons ages 15 & up are invited to join us for a short class series exploring the process of Making Movies. These classes will take place on Thursdays, April 3, 10, 17 & 24, and patrons should plan to attend all four sessions. Seminar attendees will learn cinematic language through a combination of lecture and practical exercises to understand how motion pictures are planned, produced, and finished. This series is meant to expose students who are considering either a career in entertainment or film school to the industry requisites and to make them educated users and consumers of video-based information. The seminar will be lead by Charlie Myers, a lecturer at California State University, Long Beach with experience as a consultant in the film industry. This program is free, but registration is required. Please contact the Cuba Library at (585) 968-1668 or email cuba@stls.org to sign up.

Charles Myers has worked as crew on over 60 motion pictures including feature films, television, pilots, as well as hundreds of commercials.  He has also worked at most of the major studios and built theme park attractions globally and other projects such as the restoration of Grauman’s Chinese Theater. While a professor at Saddleback College and California State University Long Beach, hundreds of Charles’ students have gone on to careers in entertainment including several Academy Award nominees and two winners.
