Movie Screening & Discussion

Are you a film buff or someone with an interest in the movie industry? Join us Tuesday, April 8 at 6 pm for a screening of a must-see classic film for any student, connoisseur, or filmmaking aspirant, followed by a discussion. We will watch “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso,” a coming-of-age dramedy film written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. A discussion on Italian Cinema will follow the movie screening, lead by Charlie Myers, a lecturer at California State University, Long Beach with experience as a consultant in the film industry. Discover why directors such as Tarantino, Scorsese, and Spielberg believe studying classic film is the best film school in the world. This program is open adults, and no registration is required.

Charles Myers has worked as crew on over 60 motion pictures including feature films, television, pilots, as well as hundreds of commercials.  He has also worked at most of the major studios and built theme park attractions globally and other projects such as the restoration of Grauman’s Chinese Theater. While a professor at Saddleback College and California State University Long Beach, hundreds of Charles’ students have gone on to careers in entertainment including several Academy Award nominees and two winners.
